Tulpenrallye 2009

The story of 2009: De start in Annecy is in de voorgaande editie goed bevallen en in 2009 keert de Tulpenrallye terug in Annecy voor de start van de 56 e editie. Het Impérial Palace Hotel aan de oevers van het meer is opnieuw de startlocatie en hier komen de 189 equipes die van start gaan op zondagmiddag bij elkaar voor de traditionele cocktailparty. De Ardèche is in de voorgaande edities uitgebreid verkend door uitzetters Brugmans en Daamen en om daar een mooie route te kunnen rijden wordt maandag overnacht in Vals-les-Bains. De Alpen worden dit jaar wat minder bezocht, de Jura zelfs helemaal niet, en de rally blijft wat meer in het midden van Frankrijk. Het karakteristieke Vichy wordt voor het eerst aangedaan met de historische Tulpenrallye en van daaruit loopt de route op dag drie naar Beaune. Op de vierde dag wordt wel weer in de Vogezen gereden en nadat de organisatie al jaren op zoek is naar een geschikte locatie in de regio Nancy / Metz wordt deze uiteindelijk gevonden in Pont-a-Mousson dat ongeveer halverwege deze twee steden ligt. De Abbaye de Premontre (een groot klooster) biedt voldoende mogelijkheden voor een zeer sfeervol diner. De stad biedt wat weinig hotelruimte, maar uiteindelijk vinden alle deelnemers in de wat grotere regio onderdak. De uitzetters willen zo lang mogelijk buiten Nederland rijden en daarom wordt besloten om op vrijdagavond in Genk (Résidence Stiemerheide) te overnachten. Op zaterdag wordt de laatste etappe verreden naar Noordwijk. De sfeer in de rallykaravaan is opperbest. De wegen bestaan opnieuw grotendeels uit bergtrajecten en het weer wordt iedere dag beter. Rinus Sinke en Bart den Hartog blijven aan de leiding in de Expert klasse. Zij realiseren zich dat de Tulp nog nooit door een Austin Healey is gewonnen en dat legt een zware druk op hun schouders. De strijd in de Expert klasse blijft extreem spannend. Maar, Rinus Sinke wint in zijn 15e deelname aan de Tulpenrallye de 56e editie van het evenement en hij voegt voor het eerst de prachtige door Donald Healey gebouwde Engelse sportwagen toe aan de palmares van het evenement. Bij de finish op zaterdagmiddag zijn enige duizenden toeschouwers aanwezig. Bij het slotdiner in Grand Hotel ‘Huis ter Duin’ heerst een geweldige sfeer en vermaken de 700 gasten zich opperbest. Tegen elf uur ’s avonds rijden Sinke en Den Hartog op de klanken van ‘Simply the Best’ de winnende Austin Healey de Pickézaal van Grand Hotel ‘Huis ter Duin’ binnen en nemen een staande ovatie in ontvangst.
