Tulpenrallye 2000

The story of 2000: Hoewel de speciale editie van 1999 met succes was verlopen, besluit de organisatie toch om in 2000 weer terug te keren naar Frankrijk. Er wordt besloten om niet alleen de Vogezen aan te doen maar ook om weer terug te gaan naar de uitdagende bergen van de Jura! De rally beslaat opnieuw vrijwel een hele week en wordt gestart op maandag 8 mei om tien uur ’s morgens. De eerste dag wordt Bouillon al bereikt op de grens tussen België en Frankrijk. Het hotel in Bouillon is onvoldoende voorbereid op de grote groep deelnemers uit Nederland. In de loop van de avond is er geen bier meer in het hotel. De groothandel wordt gebeld en deze levert dezelfde avond nog een aantal nieuwe vaten zodat het probleem wordt opgelost. Op dinsdag is Besançon de finishplaats. Vanuit Besançon wordt woensdag een lange lus door de Franse Jura gereden, met Confort ter hoogte van Genève als het meest zuidelijke punt, waarbij de deelnemers ’s avonds weer in hetzelfde hotel terugkeren. Op donderdag volgen de Vogezen met een lunch bovenop de Ballon d’Alsace en de finish in la Petite Pierre. Op vrijdag een zware etappe door de Belgische Ardennen met de finish bij Priorij Corsendonck in de buurt van Turnhout. Op zaterdag volgt nog een verrassing: de Tulpenrallye keert (voor het eerst sinds 1989) terug op de Vlasakkers. Hier is een geheime proef uitgezet voor de sportklasse. De deelnemers ontvangen hier aan de ingang van het terrein pas de navigatie-opdracht voor deze test. Vanuit Nederland zijn de meest prominente deelnemers Bert Dolk – Jan Berkhof, Adrie Brugmans – Jaap Daamen, Man Bergsteijn – André Jetten en vader en zoon Leunis en Richard de Kam. De belangrijkste buitenlandse deelnemers zijn de sympathieke Belgen Gilbert Wilssens-Filip de Munck en de Duitsers Frans Zapfe – Anja Bögershausen. Bert Dolk en Jan Berkhof nemen op de eerste dag de leiding en consolideren deze tot en met donderdag hoewel de equipes op de volgende plaatsen op slechts een beperkt aantal strafpunten volgen. Op vrijdag slaan Adrie Brugmans en Jaap Daamen in de Ardennen toe wanneer zij slechts 1 controle missen en alle andere equipes een veelvoud hiervan aan strafpunten oplopen. Natuurlijk brengt de geheime proef op de Vlasakkers de nodige extra spanning, doch Dolk en Brugmans weten beide hier de schade te beperken tot 56 strafpunten. Adrie Brugmans en Jaap Daamen met Alfa Romeo winnen de 47e Tulpenrallye.
